Both productions have been nominated under the category of Outstanding Musical Production. HMS Pinafore played from February to May and The Mikado played from September 2000 to January 2001, both at the Savoy Theatre.
Others nominated in the category are The King and I at the Palladium, Singing in the Rain at the Royal National Theatre, and The Pirates of Penzance at the Regents Park Open Air Theatre. This is the first time that there have been three Gilbert and Sullivan operas nominated in one category.
D’Oyly Carte Opera Company is delighted to be nominated as the nomination represents an acknowledgement of the high artistic standards the company has striven to achieve in recent years.
